The Three “R's”
Waste, and how we choose to handle it, greatly affects our environment. The one and only environment that holds our trees, air, and water. The environment that holds our nature. Nature may be deteriorating because of the waste we produce. Is there a way to halt that problem? |

What Are the Three R's?
For many years, we have enjoyed freedom; barely taking responsibility for our actions. Has that brought us anywhere? Believe it or not, avoiding responsibility of our environment has contributed a negative impact on the way we live. Over time, people saw pollution and deterioration of our environment as a major problem. Something had to be done. That is how the three R's were born. These three R's are basic responsibility guides that if followed, or trees and nature will experience a major change. Reducing, reusing, and recycling are the three R's to an awaiting miracle.

What Reducing Is About!
Reducing is very important to keeping our environment healthy. How? Very simple. You can greatly minimize the amount of waste you create by choosing what rubbish you throw away. Waste reduction begins at a supermarket. By slightly alternating what you buy will greatly reduce the amount of waste you produce in your environment and even your home! First, buy only what you need. Try not to make unnecessary
purchases, as it may increase the amount of waste around you. Second, buy products that can be reused. For example, consider bottles instead of cans. Bottles can be reused after their first use, however, cans are to be thrown away. Third, buy all purpose cleaners, as opposed to buying many different cleaners for each cleaning role. Finally, buy products with less packaging, as this greatly reduces the amount of waste that goes in the garbage can.

What Reusing is About!
Another major factor that affects how our environment develops is reusing. In fact, it may seem like a hard task to accomplish, however, many items found around a home can be used again for different purposes, instead of being thrown away.
Carrier bags, for example, can be reused in the shops or as bin bags around the house. In addition, paper bags make useful wrapping paper. Another common item floating around the house is a jar. Jars and pots can be reused as small containers to store coins, or other junk. Finally, old clothes can be made into other textile items such as cushion covers. All these suggestions greatly reduce the amount of stuff made to waste.

Thus far, people in our environment have not been taking much responsibility of our environment. But, we cannot just wait for something to happen from thin air. We, as a community have to do something about it. By
following the three R's we can achieve great success. Only YOU can make a difference. |
